Our Beliefs

What We Believe

We believe the Holy Bible, in 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is God-breathed, inerrant, infallible, authoritative, and sufficient - the very Word of God.

We are a confessional church, which simply means that we have adopted a robust statement of faith that we believe is the most accurate exposition of the doctrines of Scripture. It is not enough for a church to claim to believe the Bible. A church is obligated to communicate what they believe the Bible teaches.

We are committed to our confession, The Second London Baptist Confession of 1689, as a faithful summary of the doctrines in the Bible. We hold our confession as a secondary standard, subordinate to the primary standard of Holy Scripture.

This confession, often abbreviated LBCF, is one of the great reformed confessions of the 17th century. It is a blend and revision of two other confessions: the Westminster Confession of Faith (Presbyterian), and the Savoy Declaration (Congregationalist). Our version of the confession has a few distinctive particulars added that are clearly outlined in the introduction we have written.

Statement of Faith - RBC Book of Church Order Appendix B

Our confession is a historic confession and, as such, does not address some of the contemporary issues on which we as a church must be clear. To that end, we have declared our position on six additional matters of significance: Biblical Inerrancy, Ecclesiastical Separation, Cessationism, Young Earth Creationism, and Gender Sexuality.

Affirmations and Denials - RBC BCO Appendix C

Another significant matter we have an obligation to clearly define is our philosophy of worship. From the preaching to the music, today’s user-friendly church services are designed to please man. But God makes clear demands of those who would worship Him. He expects total respect for His holiness, grateful hearts, and an acute awareness of who the audience is. We strive to worship the Lord in joyful sobriety, reverent enthusiasm, humble boldness, and dignified simplicity.
